Key information
Read this before you buy. The rest of these Terms gives the detail.
- Who you deal with: Fitread Ltd. Your contract is with Fitread Ltd only.
- What Fitread does: it reads your CV against a job advert and shows what to fix. It does not promise interviews, offers or any other result.
- Free: your match score needs no account. A free account gets 5 readings every 30 days. Fitread does not charge you to see jobs, to go to a job's page to apply, or to use the tracker.
- Free and paid services: free on every plan, and the same on every plan: browsing live jobs, going to a job's page to apply, the tracker, the CV manager and Learn. Job Match is free too, showing some of your matches; your top matches and the full list need Pro. You never need Pro for a free service. Pro (section 7), Auto apply credits (section 7A) and Interview Practice (section 7C) are separate, paid services.
- Pro: £34.99 a month, or £69.99 every 3 months. Fitread Ltd is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. The price shown is the total.
- Auto apply credits: 5 for £6.99, 10 for £11.99 or 25 for £26.99. Every account gets 2 free credits to start, once. Pro: 20% off and 2 free credits a month, which end at the month's end. Bought credits never expire. Cancel unused credits within 14 days for a refund (section 7A).
- Interview Practice: a separate add-on at £12.99 a month, on any plan, cancel any time (section 7C).
- Employer logins: where a company's recruiting system needs an account, you authorise Fitread to make one in your name with your email and keep it encrypted, so it can sign in and apply. You can see or forget each login at any time (section 7B).
- Renewal: a plan renews until you cancel. There is no minimum term beyond the period you have paid for.
- Free trial: 7 days, on the quarterly plan only, one per person. You add a payment method. You pay £0 today. Unless you cancel first, £69.99 is taken when the trial ends, then every 3 months.
- Cancelling: cancel any time in Manage billing on your plan page, or ask us. Within 14 days of your first payment we refund that payment in full and Pro ends at once. After that, Pro stays on to the end of the period you paid for. Nothing more is charged.
- Your right to cancel: you can cancel within 14 days, counted from the day after you start a plan or a trial, and get back everything you paid (section 12).
- Our refund promise: on the quarterly plan with a trial, you can also ask for your first payment back within 14 days of that payment, which runs past your legal right (section 13).
- AI: some text is written by AI and is labelled as written by AI. Check it before you use it.
- Your data: our privacy notice explains what we collect and why.
1 Who we are
Fitread is a service of Fitread Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17499351. Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.
Fitread Ltd is not registered for VAT.
How to contact us:
- our contact form;
- email: support@fitread.co.uk;
- post: our registered office above.
In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Fitread Ltd. "You" means the person using Fitread.
2 About these Terms
- These Terms are the contract between you and Fitread Ltd. They apply when you create a Fitread account, and when you start a Pro plan or a free trial.
- How you agree. Where you create an account or sign in, one line says "By continuing you agree to the Terms and have read the Privacy notice", with both linked. Continuing is your agreement to these Terms. We record the version you agreed to (shown at the top) and when, and record it again when you next sign in after a new version.
- The screens keep it short. Fitread's pages do not repeat these Terms or our privacy notice: what each tool does and does not do, what it keeps, what it sends and to whom, and how credits and refunds work are set out here and in the privacy notice. They apply whether or not a page repeats them.
- You can get a match score without an account. You do not accept these Terms to do that. Our privacy notice still tells you what happens to your CV.
- Our privacy notice is a separate document. It explains how we use personal data. You do not "agree" to it.
- These Terms are in English only.
- You can print this page or save it as a PDF from your browser. We also email you a confirmation when you start Pro.
- We do not keep a separate copy of your contract for you to download. We keep every version of these Terms; ask us for the one you agreed to.
- The version and date are at the top.
- We do not subscribe to any code of conduct.
3 Who can use Fitread
- There is no minimum age.
- Fitread is built for people looking for work in the UK: it reads English CVs against UK adverts. Anyone may use it, wherever they live.
- Fitread is for your own job search. It is not for agencies, employers or anyone who reads other people's CVs as a business. We do not offer a product for agencies yet.
4 What Fitread does, and what it does not do
What it does
- Fitread reads your CV against a job advert. It shows a match rate from 0 to 100, the advert's skills your CV shows and misses, checks on your CV, and fixes.
- The match rate and every figure come from Fitread's own code, not from AI. The AI cannot change the number. Our privacy notice explains how the score is worked out.
- Some parts are written by AI: Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. AI text in Fitread's tools is labelled as written by AI. Section 16 explains what that means for you.
- It lists live jobs from companies' own job sites and ranks them against a CV you have saved (Job Match).
- Day rates and other market figures come from the job adverts Fitread reads. Each one shows the number of adverts and the month. They show what adverts offer, not what contractors are paid. We show a figure only when enough adverts give one.
What it does not do
- It applies only to company jobs in Auto apply, and only when you press Apply (section 4A) or under the Hybrid or Auto instruction you chose (section 7A). It never applies through a job board. Nothing goes to an agency or job board, and your match score is never sent.
- It never contacts an employer, agency or recruiter for you, other than the applications Auto apply sends (section 4A). It never sends your letters, thank-you notes or email replies: you send those yourself (a note you add to an Auto apply application goes with that application). It never opens or visits the links you save in the tracker, and saving an interview or a date there sends nothing to anyone.
- It never signs in to LinkedIn, and never reads or changes your LinkedIn account. The LinkedIn check reads only what you paste or upload, or your own public profile from a link you give it (our privacy notice names the service that reads it).
- It never writes a skill, qualification, employer, date or number into your CV that you did not give it. Where a figure says what adding a skill is worth, add the skill only if you have it.
- It does not promise interviews, offers, a pay rate or any other result. A high match rate does not mean you will be shortlisted.
- It is not tax, legal, IR35 or careers advice. IR35 is shown only as the advert states it, or as "not stated".
Fitread is in Beta. While it is, the app shows a "Beta" tag and a Feedback form. Features may change as we improve it (section 14).
4A. How Auto apply sends an application
- Set up once. Before your first application you check the details we take from your CV (name, phone, town, links), answer the common questions (such as right to work, notice and pay), and tick that Fitread fills in and sends your application when you press Apply. You can change these answers at any time.
- Pressing Apply is your instruction to send. When you press Apply on a job, or Apply to all with jobs ticked, Fitread prepares the application from your CV and your answers and sends it. In Hybrid or Auto, the standing instruction you gave does the same without a press for each job (section 7A). Where Fitread can send it, its server either passes it to the employer's recruiting system, or opens the employer's own application form, fills it in and presses its Submit. For some recruiting systems that form is opened, filled in and sent in a browser that Firecrawl, a browser service, runs for Fitread; the same rules in this section apply, and Fitread is still the one sending it for you. Where it can't, you finish it on the employer's own page and tell us whether you sent it.
- Systems that need your own account (Workday). Some employers' recruiting systems ask you to sign in, or make an account, on the employer's own site before you apply. Fitread's server sends those for you only where it can sign in with the employer login you authorised (section 7B); it then fills in each step of the employer's application from your CV and answers and presses their Submit, under the same rules as any form Fitread fills. If any page there asks whether you are a person, the send stops and you finish it on the employer's page. Otherwise you apply on the employer's page yourself. An account on the employer's site is yours, under that employer's terms.
- Checking first. In Preferences you can turn on "Let me check each application before it goes". Then nothing is sent until you press Send on the application's own page.
- Nothing is guessed. Fitread sends only your CV, your details, your answers, and answers worked out from your own CV and profile (section 7A). When a form asks something none of these cover, or something Fitread never answers for you (section 7A), the application waits for you ("Needs you") until you answer it. A note or answer Fitread wrote waits for you to read it, unless your Hybrid or Auto instruction covers it (section 7A). Fitread never ticks a consent or legal box for you unless you answered that box yourself.
- The employer's own ticks. Some employers' forms ask you to tick their own privacy notice or terms. Fitread ticks one only with your own answer: until you give it, the application waits for you in Needs you.
- Companies you exclude. Fitread never applies to your current employer, or to a company on your "Never apply to" list.
- Checks for people. If the employer's page asks whether you are a person, Fitread does not answer it. It shows you a live picture of that page and passes on your own clicks and key presses, so you can answer it yourself. If it isn't answered within 10 minutes, nothing is sent and you can finish it on the employer's page. In Firecrawl's browser there is no live picture: if the check shows before Fitread presses their Submit, the send stops there, nothing is sent, and you finish it on the employer's page.
- Sent means sent. An application shows as Sent only when the employer's system or page confirms it. If Fitread can't tell, it never sends it again, and asks you. Each one shows What was sent.
- Keep your answers true. They go with each application you press Apply on. The employer decides what happens next (section 20).
5 Your account
- You sign in without a password: with a code we send to your email, or with Google or Microsoft. WorkOS handles sign-in for us, on its own sign-in page or through the email-code box on our score page. WorkOS sends the code.
- Your account is linked to your email address, once that address is verified. Anyone who can read your email can sign in to Fitread, so keep your email account secure.
- One person per account. Do not share your account or let anyone else use it.
- If you think someone else has used your account, contact us straight away.
6 Free use
Without an account
- You can scan your CV against an advert and see your match score. You can also run the LinkedIn headline check.
- There is a limit per internet connection every 30 days. We count it with a one-way code, never your IP address itself.
- The reading behind your score is stored for 24 hours after your scan, then deleted. To keep it, create a free account from your score within 30 minutes.
With a free account (no card needed)
- 5 readings every 30 days. The 30 days start with the first reading you use; your readings come back 30 days after that day, UK time, and the next 30 days start with your next reading. Unused readings do not carry over. A reading that fails does not count. Checking your CV again in the Editor does not use a reading.
- In each reading, every fix is counted. The first fix in each section is explained in full, up to 5. The names of the 3 hard skills that would raise your match rate most, and of 1 soft skill, are hidden, and AI text that would name them is left out.
- Up to 10 AI reviews a day.
- The Editor; 1 CV built in the CV builder at a time; 3 bullet-writer runs every 30 days; the free CV and letter templates.
- The LinkedIn profile checks and the letter check.
- Job Match, with some matches locked.
- Free on every plan: browsing live jobs, going to a job's page to apply, the tracker, the CV manager and Learn.
The plan page always shows the current allowances.
- Invite friends. When a friend joins with your invite link and makes their first reading, you each get 5 bonus readings, for up to 10 friends (50 in all). Bonus readings never expire and are used once your free readings run out.
7 Pro
Prices
- Monthly: £34.99 a month.
- Quarterly: £69.99 every 3 months. This works out at £23.33 a month.

- Your card provider may charge you for converting the payment if your account uses another currency.
What Pro includes
- Up to 300 readings every 30 days (fair use, section 10).
- Every fix explained, in every reading.
- Application messages and cover notes, written from your CV in Letters.
- AI suggestions in the Editor, and turning evidence you type into CV lines.

7A. Auto apply credits
- What a credit is. One credit is one application Fitread prepares for you in Auto apply, for a job you pick on a company's own job page. A credit is used when Fitread prepares the application. Sending it, opening the company's page again, answering what it waits for or bringing it back never uses another.
- Packs: 5 credits for £6.99, 10 for £11.99 or 25 for £26.99, in pounds sterling. Fitread Ltd is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. Stripe takes the payment and emails the receipt.
- Free credits to start: every account gets 2 free credits, once. They never expire and are never paid back in money.
- Pro: Pro members, including during a trial, pay 20% less for packs and get 2 free credits each calendar month, UK time. Free credits are used first. They end at the month's end and do not carry over. If we refund a Pro payment in full, the free Pro credits you have not used that month end too.
- Bought credits never expire.
- When you get a credit back. If an application can't go out because of the listing (the job closed or was taken down, or the company's form refused it or asks for no automated tools), or you skip it within 24 hours without opening the company's page, we give the credit back. If Fitread prepared an application on its own (your morning matches, or Hybrid or Auto) and, while it waits in Ready to review or Needs you, it no longer fits your roles or the match level you chose, Fitread closes it and gives the credit back, unless you have pressed something on it yourself. When Fitread is sending an application for you, in its own browser or Firecrawl's, if Fitread doesn't send it, you don't pay: we give the credit back, automatically and once, when Fitread's send stops before Fitread presses the company's Submit (a stop Fitread can't get past, a form it can't finish, a recruiting system we have switched off for Fitread's sending, or a check for people left unanswered until the wait runs out), or when you take it back yourself before then (for example with "Finish on their page" or "Don't send"). You can then finish it on the company's page yourself, or press "Try again" or Send to have Fitread send it, which uses one credit, like any new application, and gets the same refund if Fitread doesn't send it. A send Fitread is making for you that waits on you in Needs you is closed with its credit back when its job closes or when it is still waiting 3 days after the send began. An application that waits in Needs you after Apply (yours, or Hybrid or Auto's), before anything was sent or the company's page was opened, also comes back with its credit if you choose "Don't send" or Decline, however long it waited. You don't get it back for an application that was sent, whether or not the company confirmed it, once Fitread has pressed the company's Submit (unless the company's form then refuses it because of the listing), or if you opened the company's page and then didn't send it, or skipped it later (except an application waiting in Needs you, as above).
- Saving a card, and paying in one press. On Top up you can tick "Save this card for next time" (it starts unticked). Stripe keeps the card with your Stripe customer record. Next time you can pay for credits with it by pressing the button and then Pay on the confirm step. Pro members can also pay with the card on their plan. If your bank asks for a check, Stripe shows it. Remove a saved card on the credits page, or by deleting your data; the card on your plan changes in Manage billing.
- Starting straight away, and cancelling. When you buy, you ask us to make your credits available straight away. You can still cancel within 14 days of buying and get back the price of the credits you haven't used, worked out from what you paid for the pack. Your oldest pack is used first. Free credits are never paid back in money. To cancel, use Cancel on the credits page or ask us.
- Price changes never touch credits you have already bought.
- Deleting your data removes your unused credits (section 19).
- Sending modes. In Preferences, under Quick settings, you choose how Auto apply sends. Review (the standard setting): nothing is sent until you press Apply or Send (section 4A). Hybrid: Fitread sends, without asking you each time, the matches whose match rate is at or above the number you set (85 unless you change it); the rest wait for your review. Auto: Fitread sends, without asking you each time, every match that fits your Job preferences and filters.
- Your standing instruction. Choosing Hybrid or Auto and ticking "Send applications for me in this mode, without asking each time" is your instruction to send each such application as if you had pressed Apply on it. We record the mode, the number, the words you agreed to and the time. It lasts until you choose another mode or change the number. Pause stops it at once: nothing more is started, and one Fitread is already sending under it stops before their Submit, with its credit back (the same when you choose another mode or change the number). Resume starts it again.
- Credits are the only limit. Each application uses one credit, under the rules above. For safety, Fitread never sends more than 500 applications for you in one day. If you run out of credits, the mode pauses itself and says so, and carries on once you have credits again.
- Answers from your own facts. When an employer's form asks something you haven't saved an answer for, Fitread answers it from what you already gave us: worked out from your CV (for example your years of experience, your current or last employer and job title, your education, or a link in it), or taken from your profile (your town, the kinds of work you want, your current employer, and, for how you found the job, "Fitread" if you chose to tell employers you used Fitread, or otherwise their form's own "Other"). Each such answer is labelled "From your CV" or "From your profile", in "See what we'll send" and in What was sent. A qualification, licence or certificate is answered "Yes" only when your CV or profile shows you hold it, and you still confirm on each application that it is still true.
- AI drafting. A required free-text question (such as "What makes you a good fit for this role?") may be answered by Claude, Anthropic's AI model, written only from your CV and the job advert. It never adds an employer, date, number, skill or claim your CV doesn't show, and never claims a feeling or reason you didn't give. It is labelled "Written by AI from your CV". In Review you read it before it goes. In Hybrid and Auto your standing instruction covers it, and you can read it in What was sent.
- Never answered for you. Fitread never works out or writes an answer about: right to work; visa sponsorship; a criminal record or DBS check; disability, health or adjustments; equality and diversity monitoring; security clearance; a qualification, licence, certification or membership your CV and profile don't show; pay, when you haven't saved yours; consent, privacy or terms confirmations; any declaration or attestation; other people (such as referees or relatives); AI and automated tools; or why you left a job or are leaving one, gaps in your CV or employment, and why you want this job or this employer. Unless you saved your own answer, each one waits for you in Needs you.
- Auto apply has a safety limit whatever credits you hold, so a fault can never send without end: 500 applications in 24 hours and 100 to one company in 30 days.
7B. Employer logins
- Why they exist. Some companies' recruiting systems (for example Workday) make you create an account before you can apply. So Auto apply can apply for you there, you authorise Fitread to create an account in your name on those systems, using your own email address, and to sign in to it to apply.
- What Fitread does. For each such system Fitread makes one account for you, with your email and a strong password Fitread generates (never your Fitread password, and never one you use elsewhere). It keeps that login encrypted, uses it only to sign in and apply for jobs you chose, and keeps a log of when it was used. Fitread does the whole account step in its own browser; you do not need any browser extension.
- Sign-up terms. When a recruiting system's sign-up asks you to accept its own terms of use and privacy notice to create the account, Fitread accepts them on your behalf as part of creating the account, because you authorise that here. Your application then shows, under What was sent, that the account was created and whose terms were accepted, with links to them. This covers the account's own sign-up terms only. It never covers an application's own declarations, or anything you alone decide — right to work, visa sponsorship, a criminal record or DBS check, health, equality monitoring, security clearance, a qualification you do not hold, pay, consents on the application, or any attestation (section 7A, "Never answered for you").
- Oracle Recruiting Cloud. On an employer's Oracle Recruiting Cloud site the account is a candidate profile made with your email address alone, with no password. Fitread enters your email there and, where the site asks, accepts its terms for the profile as above. If Oracle emails you a code to confirm it is you, Fitread does not enter it: you finish that application on the employer's page. If any Oracle page asks whether you are a person, the send stops and nothing is answered for you.
- Verifying your email. If a system emails you a link to verify your email, Fitread follows only a link on that same company or recruiting-system website, and no other link in the email. If you have not set up your Fitread Inbox, Fitread asks you to open the email and click the link yourself, then carries on.
- You stay in control. On "Your employer logins" you can, at any time, see each login (its system, the email used, and when it was made and last used), show its password (after signing in again), or forget a login so Fitread no longer keeps it. Forgetting a login does not close the account on the company's site; it only removes Fitread's copy, and Fitread makes no new account on that site for you until you allow it again. Deleting your Fitread data or closing your account deletes every login Fitread holds (section 19).
- A human check. If a system's sign-up or sign-in page asks you to prove you are a person (a CAPTCHA or similar), Fitread does not create an account or sign in there. It never answers, solves or gets past such a check. You can still apply on the company's own page yourself.
7C. Interview Practice (add-on)
- What it is. A monthly add-on to any plan, Free or Pro: live mock interviews with Fitread's AI interviewer, a real-time spoken conversation 10, 15 or 20 minutes long. It asks questions built from the advert, the job title or the level you choose and your saved CV, asks follow-up questions about what you said, repeats a question when you ask, keeps to time and then ends the call. It gives no feedback during the call; after it you get feedback on every answer, a stronger answer and what is measured, then a summary.
- Price: £12.99 a month, in pounds sterling. Fitread Ltd is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. It is separate from Pro: Pro does not include it, and it does not include Pro.
- A free first interview. Without the add-on you can have one free live interview, 5 minutes long, with a free Fitread account. It is one per person: we check this with your email address and your sign-in, also against accounts that have since been closed (we keep a coded form of these for 2 years: privacy notice). Its report shows your overall score (or that there was too little to score), the words of the call and, with your camera on, the recording on your device. Its area scores, delivery, strengths and what to work on, and each answer's feedback and stronger answer are written and kept with your practice like any other, and shown in full once you have the add-on. There is a daily limit on free interviews across Fitread; when it is reached, the set-up says so and you can try again the next day.
- Paying and renewal. You pay when you subscribe, then every month on the same day until you cancel. There is no free trial of the subscription. Stripe takes the payment and emails the receipt.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time in Manage billing on the Interview Practice page, or ask us. Within 14 days of your first payment, cancelling refunds that payment in full and the add-on ends at once. After that it stays on to the end of the month you paid for, and nothing more is charged. Your legal right to cancel within 14 days (section 12) applies to the add-on as it does to a plan.
- If a payment fails, the add-on stays on for 7 days while Stripe tries again, then stops.
- Fair use. Each calendar month (UK time) you can have up to 30 live interviews and use up to 200 live minutes, whichever you reach first, within the add-on's daily AI limits (section 10). An interview counts once its call connects, and deleting it does not give it back. Setting an interview up does not count, and if its call does not connect, you can try the call again in the same interview. You can set up at most 60 interviews a month, started or not. A call books its length when it starts, and once it has ended counts the whole minutes it really took; a call that never connects counts nothing. There is also a daily limit for live interviews across Fitread; when it is reached, live interviews pause until the next day.
- How the live interview hears you. During the call your microphone's sound goes from your browser to ElevenLabs, our speech supplier, which turns it into words and speaks the interviewer's words. The interviewer's words are written by Claude, Anthropic's AI model, which ElevenLabs runs for us. Fitread never receives or keeps your voice, and ElevenLabs is set to keep no recording. When the call ends, Fitread takes the words of the call from ElevenLabs, keeps them with your practice, and has ElevenLabs delete the conversation straight away (privacy notice, section 3.4).
- The camera is optional. You can switch your camera on for eye-contact coaching, or leave it off; everything else works without it, and your report then says eye contact was not measured. With it on, your browser reads the camera on your own device a few times a second, only to work out whether you are looking at the screen while you answer, whether you smile and how well your face is lit. The picture never leaves your device: Fitread never receives it, a photo of you or any face data, and only these numbers are kept with your practice: the share of your answering time spent looking at the screen, your "reading moments" (looking down or to one side for two seconds or more while speaking), your longest look-away, the seconds measured, how often your head turned away, and each answer's own share; whether you smiled while listening, in each answer, at the start and at the end; and how much of your answering time had good light, with its most common problem. It never identifies you, and of your expression it reads only whether you are smiling: it never works out your feelings or emotions. Smiles and light are never part of your score. It is coaching for your own practice, not a check on you.
- Recording on your device. With the camera on, your browser records the call (your camera, your microphone and, where your browser allows it, the interviewer's voice) so you can watch it back on your report while that page is open. The recording stays in your browser: it is never sent to Fitread or anyone else, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Save video downloads it to your device; if you leave the page without saving it, it is gone, and the page asks first.
- What is measured. Your pace, filler words, power words, long pauses and negative phrases are counted by Fitread's own code from the words of the call. They are guides, not scores. Your pace and long pauses are worked out from when the page hears your voice during the call; if it could not time an answer, its pace is worked out from the times ElevenLabs gives each turn of the call, and its long pauses are not counted. An answer neither can time shows neither. Your volume (how loud your answers were, against the room's own sound, and whether they trailed off at the end) is worked out by your browser on your device from your microphone; only those numbers are kept, and they are never part of your score.
- Your report and its score. After the call your report gives an overall score out of 5: the weighted mean of five areas, each from 1 to 5. Structure, relevance, specifics and clarity come from Claude marking each of your answers against a rubric the report shows, quoting your own words from that answer; Fitread's code turns the marks into points over every question asked: a question you did not answer counts as not shown, and so do the planned questions a call did not reach when it ends more than two minutes before its time. The code also applies fixed rules: an answer under 12 words counts as not shown, one under 25 words counts as partly shown at most for structure and specifics, and an answer that does not answer the question counts as partly shown at most in the other areas. There is no score when you gave fewer than three answers of a few sentences, or fewer than 150 words. Delivery is the share of what Fitread's code measured that was on track, once you have answered for a minute across three answers, and it lifts the overall score by half a point at most; an answer that could not be timed adds nothing to that minute, and if delivery is not scored for that reason the report says so. The score is a guide for your practice, not a prediction of any employer's decision. Download report opens a page to print or save as a PDF on your device.
- AI feedback. Claude, Anthropic's AI model, suggests how to improve each answer and writes a stronger version of it only from what you said and your CV. Where a result or a figure is missing, it writes "add your result" for you to fill in; it never adds an employer, a figure or a skill you did not give (section 16).
- Your practices, with your answers and their feedback, are kept until you delete them or all your data (section 19). Practices answered one question at a time, before the live interview became the only kind (11 October 2026), stay as they were, to review or delete.
- If the live interview cannot run (your microphone is blocked, the live interviewer cannot be reached, the live interview is paused, or this month's interviews, set-ups or minutes are used), the page says so in one line. You can try again; interviews, set-ups and minutes used come back on the first day of the next month.
8 The free trial
- The trial lasts 7 days and is on the quarterly plan only. There is no trial on the monthly plan.
- One trial per person. We check this with your email address, your sign-in and the card or PayPal account you start the trial with, also against accounts that have since been closed (we keep a coded form of these for 2 years: privacy notice). If you have had a trial, the checkout shows the price without one. If the card or PayPal account you use has already had a trial, we end the new trial at once and charge nothing, and you can start Pro without a trial.
- You add a card, or another payment method, to start it.
- You pay £0 today. Unless you cancel first, £69.99 is taken when the trial ends, 7 days later, then every 3 months. The checkout shows the exact date.
- Every Pro tool is included in the trial.
- If you cancel during the trial, Pro stays on until the trial ends. You are not charged.
- If you change plan during the trial, see "Changing plan" in section 11.
- We email you 2 days before your trial ends.
9 Offers
- An offer applies only as described where you take it up, and only until the end date shown.
- An offer cannot be combined with another offer, and it does not apply to plans already running.
10 Fair use and limits
- Pro readings: up to 300 every 30 days, counted from the first reading of those 30 days (UK time). If you reach 300, readings pause until the 30 days end. Contact us if you need more.
- Reading the same CV against the same advert again still uses a reading, with one exception. On Pro, you can read again once, at no cost, a reading kept in its free form (made on Free, or reduced when Pro ended) that cannot come back in full because its saved CV or its advert has gone or changed.
- AI limits per day (UK calendar day):
| AI part | Without an account | Free | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI review of a reading | 5 | 10 | 60 |
| Editor suggestions, and the CV builder's AI rephrasing and bullet writer | - | Bullet writer only: 3 runs every 30 days | 300 |
| Writer: openers, cover notes, thank-you notes, LinkedIn About suggestions and interview questions, together | - | - | 50 |
| Tailor; letter drafts; letter paragraph rewrites; agency thank-you notes; LinkedIn headlines; LinkedIn role rewrites; interview answer feedback; stronger interview answers | - | - | 60 each |
| Ask Fitread, the in-app assistant (only when the help chat is off) | 10 | 30 | 100 |
- Interview Practice (section 7C) has its own daily AI limits, whatever your plan: 20 sets of questions, 150 answer feedbacks and 150 stronger answers, and 30 interview reports.
- When you reach an AI limit, only the AI part pauses. The reading itself still completes.
- To stop misuse, or to protect the service when a supplier has a problem, there is also a daily limit for all AI use across Fitread. We set it so that it is not normally reached. If it is reached, AI parts pause for everyone, Pro members included, until the next day. If that stops your Pro AI parts on any day, tell us. We will add a day to your plan for each day lost.
- To stop misuse, one internet connection can run up to 12 readings an hour. CV files can be up to 5 MB.
- Reading a LinkedIn profile from its link has its own limits, because each read costs us money: up to 10 an hour and 30 a day for each account, up to 3 different profiles a day, and a daily limit across Fitread. Uploading LinkedIn's PDF or pasting your sections has none of these limits.
- If an AI part is unavailable for a long time, tell us. Section 20 explains your rights.
11 Buying, renewal, payment and cancelling
How buying Pro works
- Choose a plan on your plan page. You need to be signed in.
- Our checkout page shows the plan, what you pay today, the date and amount of the next payment, and a link to these Terms. How cancelling and refunds work is in these Terms (this section and sections 12 and 13).
- Enter your payment details in Stripe's form on that page.
- Check the details. Until you press the button, you can go back, change plan or correct anything you entered.
- Press the button to order: "Start the 7-day free trial" on the quarterly plan with a trial, otherwise "Pay £34.99 now" or "Pay £69.99 now". The line under it says what you pay after that and when, for example "£69.99 on 18 Oct, then every 3 months · cancel any time", and the summary beside it what you pay today. By pressing it you agree to pay the amounts shown and to these Terms.
- The contract is made when Stripe confirms your payment, or your trial, and we switch Pro on at once. We then show a confirmation page.
- We then email you a confirmation with these Terms and the cancellation form.
We keep a record of your plan (which plan, its dates and status). Stripe keeps your receipts.
Paying
- Stripe takes payments for us. Your card or wallet details go to Stripe, not to us. Fitread Ltd never sees or stores your card number.
- We accept the payment methods Stripe shows on our checkout page.
- Receipts are hosted by Stripe. After your first payment, a Receipts link appears on your plan page. The £0 trial start has no receipt.
Renewal
- Your plan renews automatically at the end of each period (each month, or each 3 months) until you cancel.
- It renews on the same day of the month as your first payment. For a trial, that is the day the trial ends. In a shorter month, it renews on the last day.
- There is no minimum term beyond the period you have paid for.
Changing plan
- To change between monthly and quarterly, ask us and we will change it for you, or cancel in Manage billing and choose the other plan when your current period ends. A change does not start a new trial, and it does not count as a first payment for section 13.
If a payment fails
- Stripe tries the payment again, several times over up to 3 weeks.
- Stripe dates payments in UTC, so a payment made between midnight and 1am UK summer time renews on the day before.
- Pro stays on for 7 days after the first failed payment, so you can update your card in Manage billing.
- If the payment still fails after that, your account moves to Free. Nothing is deleted by the move to Free, except as described below.
- Stripe may keep trying after your account has moved to Free. If a later try succeeds, you are charged for the full period from your renewal date, and Pro comes back for the rest of that period. Tell us, and we add the days you spent on Free to your plan.
Cancelling
- Cancel any time in Manage billing on your plan page. It opens Stripe's billing page. You can also ask us to cancel.
- During a trial, Pro stays on until the trial ends, and nothing is charged.
- Within 14 days of your first payment (sections 12 and 13), cancelling in Manage billing also counts as cancelling the contract and asking for your money back: we refund that payment in full, automatically, Pro ends at once and your account moves to Free. You can also ask us.
- After that, Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. Then your account moves to Free. Nothing more is charged.
What happens when Pro ends
- Your readings, saved CVs, tracker and drafts stay in your account.
- The parts of your readings that only Pro shows are deleted, so each reading keeps what the free plan shows.
- If you take Pro again, a reading comes back in full if you saved its CV and the advert has not changed. If it cannot come back, you can read it again once at no cost (section 10).
12 Your legal right to cancel within 14 days
- You have the right to cancel a Pro plan, or a free trial, within 14 days without giving a reason. For Auto apply credits, section 7A says what you get back.
- The 14 days start the day after the contract is made (section 11), and end at the end of the 14th day. For example, if you start a plan or a trial on 1 October, you can cancel until the end of 15 October.
- To cancel, tell us clearly before the 14 days end. Email us at support@fitread.co.uk, or send the form in Annex A by email or post. You do not have to use the form.
- If you cancel in Manage billing within the 14 days, we treat it as cancelling the contract. We end Pro and refund you as below, automatically.
- If you cancel in time, we refund everything you have paid for the plan.
- We refund you within 14 days of the day you tell us, to the same payment method, with no fee.
- When we refund, your plan ends and your account moves to Free.
- Using Pro during the 14 days does not take this right away.
- Pro starts as soon as the contract is made, inside the 14 days. We do not ask you to request that, and we never keep any part of the price for the days you used Pro: if you cancel within the 14 days, we refund everything you paid.
On the quarterly plan with a trial, nothing is taken in the first 7 days. If you cancel in that time, there is nothing to refund and nothing will be charged.
13 Our refund promise
This promise is on top of your legal right in section 12.
- On the quarterly plan with a trial, if you ask us within 14 days of your first payment, we refund that payment in full. Cancelling in Manage billing within those 14 days counts as asking. Your first payment is taken when the trial ends. For example, if you start a trial on 1 October, your first payment is on 8 October, and you can ask until the end of 22 October.
- On the monthly plan, our promise is the same 14 days as your legal right in section 12.
- We never keep any part of the price for the days you used Pro.
- When we refund, your plan ends and your account moves to Free.
- Deleting your data or your account does not take this promise away.
- This promise is for the first payment you ever make for Pro. Every new plan still has your legal right in section 12.
- Refunds are paid to the payment method you used.
14 Changes to prices and to Fitread
Prices
- We may change Pro prices. A new price never applies to a period you have already paid for.
- We will email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your plan.
- If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before it applies. You will not be charged it.
The service
- We improve Fitread and may add features at any time.
- We may change or remove a feature only for a good reason: a change in the law or a regulator's guidance, security, a supplier withdrawing or changing its service, or a technical need such as fixing a fault.
- If a change materially reduces what Pro gives you during a period you have paid for, we will tell you before it happens. You can then cancel, and we will refund the part of the period you have paid for and not used.
- We may change limits (section 10) for the same reasons. If a change materially reduces your Pro allowance, the paragraph above applies.
15 Your content
"Your content" means your CVs, the adverts you paste, your notes, tracker cards, answers and anything else you type or upload.
- You keep all rights in your content.
- You allow Fitread Ltd to store, copy, convert, analyse and show your content, and to send it to the suppliers named in our privacy notice, only to provide Fitread to you. This permission lasts while we hold the content, as our privacy notice describes, and ends when it is deleted.
- We do not sell your content. We do not use it to train AI models.
- Only upload content you have the right to use. Upload another person's CV only if they have asked you to and agreed.
- Your notes may name other people, such as recruiters and interviewers. Keep to what you need for your job search.
- The Inbox. Forward to your Fitread address only emails about your own job search. Fitread keeps them for 180 days, never loads their images or keeps their attachments, and never sends an email for you: you send any reply, AI-drafted or not, from your own email, and you are responsible for what it says. Your applications keep your own email address.
- Keep your own copy of your CV. Fitread is not a backup service.
16 AI output
- AI text in Fitread's tools is labelled as written by AI. Most of it also says where it came from. Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, writes it from your CV and the advert, or from what you typed.
- Before you see AI text about your CV or your drafts, our code removes any sentence that names a skill, number, date or name that is not in your CV or in what you typed. This check can miss things. AI text can still be wrong, unclear or a poor fit for the job.
- Check AI text before you use it. What you put on your CV or LinkedIn, or send to a recruiter, is your choice. Never claim experience you do not have.
- You may use the AI text written for you however you like. We claim no ownership of it.
- In the help chat, Fin, Intercom's AI assistant, answers first, and says it is an AI. Our code does not check its answers. If anything about your plan or your money is unclear, ask for a person.
17 Rules for using Fitread
Do not:
- share your account, or let someone else use it;
- use Fitread for an agency or an employer, to read CVs as a business, or to resell any part of it;
- upload a CV or other content that is not yours without the person's permission;
- paste a LinkedIn profile link that is not your own;
- copy, scrape or collect jobs, readings or any other part of Fitread with bots, scripts or other automated means, or use Fitread to build a competing product;
- get round the limits, the paywall or the one-trial rule, for example by opening extra accounts;
- try to break into Fitread, test its security without our written permission, overload it, or interfere with how it works;
- upload malware, or anything unlawful, abusive or that infringes someone else's rights;
- try to make the AI ignore its instructions or produce harmful content;
- use Fitread to deceive an employer or agency, for example by making false claims about your experience.
18 If we suspend or close your account
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect Fitread, its users or others from harm or fraud.
- We will tell you why, unless the law or a security reason stops us. If you think we got it wrong, contact us.
- If we close an account with Pro, we cancel the plan and refund the part of the period you paid for and have not used.
- If we suspend an account with Pro, we pause billing while it is suspended.
- We may stop offering the free plan, or Fitread itself, with at least 30 days' notice. If you have Pro, we refund the part of the period you have not used.
19 Deleting your data and closing your account
- You can delete any reading, CV, draft or tracker card at any time.
- "Delete all my Fitread data" on your account page deletes your readings, saved CVs, tracker cards and notes, drafts, usage counts, settings and job-hunt profile at once.
- It also removes your unused Auto apply credits. Within 14 days of buying, you can cancel unused credits for a refund first (section 7A).
- It also deletes every employer login Fitread holds for you (section 7B). The accounts themselves stay on the companies' own sites; closing those is up to you.
- It also deletes your Interview Practice practices and the record of your live interview minutes, and has ElevenLabs delete any live interview conversation it still holds.
- Your plan, trial and Interview Practice add-on keep running: deleting your data does not cancel or charge anything. To stop paying, cancel in Manage billing, or close your account (below).
- Your account itself stays after that, so you can still sign in.
- To close your account, use "Close my Fitread account" on your account page. It first cancels every Fitread plan and the Interview Practice add-on at Stripe, so nothing more can be charged, and Pro ends that day. If your first payment was in the last 14 days, we refund it in full (sections 12 and 13); otherwise the rest of the period you paid for is not refunded. Then it deletes the account itself and everything above. If Stripe cannot confirm the cancel, nothing is deleted and the page says so.
- Our privacy notice explains what stays after deletion, such as backups for a short time and receipts held by Stripe.
20 Our responsibility to you
Your statutory rights
- We must supply Fitread with reasonable care and skill, and as we describe it. If we do not, tell us. We will put it right, or provide the service again. If we cannot, you may be entitled to a price reduction or a refund.
- If digital content we supply for a price, such as a Word export, is faulty, you may be entitled to a repair or a replacement, or in some cases a price reduction or a refund.
- If faulty digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and this happens because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation.
- Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights, including those under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Citizens Advice can tell you more about them.
What we are responsible for
- We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if you and we both knew it might happen when the contract was made.
- We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable.
- We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
What we are not responsible for
- Decisions made by employers, agencies or anyone else about you.
- What happens on other websites, including employers' job pages.
- Loss caused by your own decision to send or publish something, unless the loss comes from our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
- Delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. If one happens, we will tell you and do what we can to limit the effect.
If you use Fitread for a business
If you buy Pro for a business (for example, through your own company), you are not a consumer. Then we are not responsible for loss of profit, business, contracts or opportunity, or for any indirect loss. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
21 Availability
- We work to keep Fitread running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults.
- We may pause Fitread, or parts of it, for maintenance, security or to fix faults. Where we can, we will tell you in advance.
- Some parts rely on our suppliers, such as the AI and the CV parser. They may sometimes be unavailable. A reading still completes when the AI part cannot run.
22 Other websites
- We show each job as the company's own job site gives it. The employer is responsible for the advert.
- When you go to a job's page to apply, you are on the employer's own site, or its recruiting system's. Their own terms and privacy notices apply there.
- If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, your account with them is under their own terms.
23 Our intellectual property
- Fitread's software, design, text, templates and help content belong to Fitread Ltd or its licensors.
- You may use Fitread, and the documents you make with it, including our templates, for your own job search.
- Do not copy, sell or reverse engineer Fitread, except where the law allows it.
24 Complaints
- If you are unhappy, tell us first. Use the contact form, or email us at support@fitread.co.uk. Tell us what happened and what you would like us to do.
- We will reply within 1 working day.
- We are not part of an alternative dispute resolution scheme.
- You can also get free advice from Citizens Advice, and you can take a claim to court.
- For a complaint about how we use your personal data, see our privacy notice.
25 Changes to these Terms
- We may change these Terms to reflect changes in the law or regulators' guidance, changes to Fitread (new or changed features, suppliers, or prices as section 14 explains), security needs, or to make them clearer.
- If a change affects you in a way that matters, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept it, you can cancel before it takes effect. If the change is to your disadvantage, we will refund the part of any period you have paid for and not used.
- The version and date at the top show when these Terms last changed.
26 Other legal terms
- Transfer. We may transfer this contract to another organisation. We will tell you, and your rights will not be reduced. If you are unhappy, you can cancel and we will refund the part of any period you have paid for and not used. You may not transfer your account to anyone else.
- Nobody else has rights under these Terms. No one else may enforce them.
- If a court finds part of these Terms unlawful, the rest stays in force.
- If we delay enforcing these Terms, we can still enforce them later.
- Law and courts. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring a claim in the Scottish courts; if you live in Northern Ireland, in the Northern Irish courts. Where you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, the consumer law there that protects you still applies.
